Mercantil, C.A. Banco Universal in Venezuela, founded in 1925, has 85 years of experience in financial services. Mercantil Bank (Panama) Initiated operations in 1977 under the name of Banco del Centro, S.A. with an international banking license obtained from Panama's Superintendence of Banks having activities mainly in trade finance in Latin America and trading mostly in emerging market securities. In December 2007 the bank changed its International License for the General License approved by the Superintendency of Banks of Panama, which enables it to offer its financial services to Panamanian residents and foreigners alike.
